Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints visited American Samoa and Samoa last weekend.

Elder Christofferson is visiting the South Pacific with his wife, Katherine Christofferson.

In American Samoa he was accompanied by Elder O. Vincent Haleck of the Pacific Area Presidency, and his wife, Peggy Haleck.

In Samoa Elder Christofferson was accompanied by Elder S. Gifford Nielsen, also of the Pacific Area Presidency, and his wife, Wendy Nielsen.

In the Apostle’s remarks at various meetings with members and guests of the Church he expressed gratitude and love to the leaders and people of the Samoan islands.

In one church meeting, Elder Christofferson invited all the children to come to the front of the chapel. After greeting them and expressing his love for them, he promised the children, their parents and other adults they would be blessed both temporally and spiritually as they learnt and lived the gospel of Jesus Christ. He assured them they would have enough to spare, so they could also bless those around them.

In meetings with American Samoan Lieutenant Governor Lemanu Peleti Mauga, and Samoan Prime Minister the Hon. Tuilaepa Aiono Sailele Malielegaoi, Elder Christofferson and other Latter-day Saint leaders discussed the growth of the Church in the Samoan islands. They also spoke about some of the ways Latter-day Saints are helping their communities such as through humanitarian, education and other efforts.

Latter-day Saint apostles travel the world meeting with people with the aim to strengthen faith and trust in Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and His atonement.
