Update 4:33 pm MDT, April 5, 2017: “LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson continued to rest and recover in the hospital late Wednesday afternoon, despite unfounded rumors that he had died. Eric Hawkins, a spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, said the church was aware of the rumors, but Hawkins confirmed at 3:20 p.m. that President Monson was alive.”

According to the Deseret News, President Thomas S. Monson has been hospitalized. However, he is expected to be released from the hospital soon.

Eric Hawkins, a spokesman for the Church, said early Tuesday evening, “President Monson was not feeling well last evening and was admitted to the hospital. He has received treatment and fluids and will hopefully be released soon.”

During the recent General Conference of the Church, President Monson gave short addresses and rested during the Saturday afternoon session to conserve his energy. Hakwins has previously stated that President Monson is feeling the “effects of advancing age.”

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
