A Giving Machine in New York City in 2018. | Church Newsroom

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has launched this year’s “Light the World” Giving Machines, which allow donors to support charities by purchasing items like meals, medical supplies, and educational resources for those in need.

How It Works

Located in cities worldwide, these vending-style donation stations encourage small, impactful acts of kindness, with all contributions benefiting local and global organizations.

The 2024 campaign partners with over 500 charitable organizations and reaches new global locations. The machines have now appeared in Africa and Asia for the first time, along with cities across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Oceania.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints covers all operational costs for the Giving Machines program, allowing every donation to go fully toward the items chosen by donors for people in need.

A Growing Movement

The “Light the World” initiative began in 2016 as a holiday campaign focused on service and kindness. In 2017, the Church introduced the Giving Machines, which quickly became a beloved part of the campaign, making charity accessible and interactive.

Since then, they’ve raised over $32 million for causes across the globe, helping communities address essential needs. Through these efforts, the Church has fostered unity and goodwill, inviting individuals everywhere to “light the world” with meaningful service.
