New temple garment designs for Latter-day Saints in extremely hot climates are currently being tested globally as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints seeks to better meet the needs of members.
This includes an “open sleeve” top for men and women which resembles a wide-strap tank top, a slip design for dresses, and a half-slip skirt design.
Women’s Dry Stretch Open Sleeve Chemise | ChurchofJesusChrist.orgThe description for the new top reads, “The snug-fitting chemise top has no underbust seams. The round neckline is finished with a binding which is also used on the arm opening. The open sleeve is designed to be cooler and eliminate excess fabric at the armhole. Dry Stretch fabric is a soft polyester/spandex blend that dries quickly and is lightweight.”

Women’s Light Nylon Half Slip | ChurchofJesusChrist.orgAccording to product descriptions, “The slip design more easily allows a variety of possible options to address women’s health or other needs. Light Nylon is a 100% nylon fabric that dries quickly and is lightweight.”
These new designs are currently only available to select areas, including Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, and the Philippines. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has not made an official announcement about this testing phase, but shop information shows the new style should be widely available in the last quarter of 2025.
It has also not confirmed the styles of these new garments or if further changes will be made. All information provided comes from online shopping availability in select countries.
Temple garments have garnered national news and Church leaders have increasingly addressed the spiritual importance of wearing the garment as instructed.
“Our temple garment reminds us that the Savior and the blessings of His Atonement cover us throughout our lives,” said Sister J. Anette Davis. “As we put on the garment of the holy priesthood each day, that beautiful symbol becomes a part of us.”
She continued, “There is deep and beautiful symbolic meaning in the garment of the holy priesthood and its relationship to Christ. I believe that my willingness to wear the holy garment becomes my symbol to Him. It is my own personal sign to God, not a sign to others.”
A distribution center where garments are sold. | ChurchofJesusChrist.orgPresident Dallin H. Oaks said, “Persons who have been endowed in a temple are responsible to wear a temple garment, an article of clothing not visible because it is worn beneath outer clothing.”
“It reminds endowed members of the sacred covenants they have made and the blessings they have been promised in the holy temple. To achieve those holy purposes, we are instructed to wear temple garments continuously, with the only exceptions being those obviously necessary.”
“Because covenants do not ‘take a day off,’ to remove one’s garments can be understood as a disclaimer of the covenant responsibilities and blessings to which they relate. In contrast, persons who wear their garments faithfully and keep their temple covenants continually affirm their role as disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
