On Tuesday, August 1, a new Young Women General Presidency began their service. Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman and her counselors, Sister Tamara W. Runia, first counselor, and Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus, second counselor, were sustained during the April 2023 general conference.

President Emily Belle Freeman

Emily Belle Freeman is a known author, speaker, podcaster, and teacher.

“Now all of that will take a little bit of a pause,” President Freeman said for an upcoming episode of the Church News podcast.

President Freeman has a deep love for Jesus Christ. She knows the importance of a personal relationship with Him. Her hope is for the youth of the Church to also gain that same understanding.

Sister Tamera W. Runia, First Counselor

Sister Tamera W. Runia has always felt at home with the young women. She has served as stake scripture class instructor, stake Relief Society presidency counselor, Australia Sydney Mission leader — but most of her service has been spent with the young women.

She wants all the young women to know how much their Heavenly Father loves them.

Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus, Second Counselor

Sister Spannaus was born and raised in Argentina. She was nine years old when the missionaries began teaching her family about the restored gospel. She was soon baptized and has spent her life serving God.

Regarding her new calling to the Young Women general presidency, she told the Church News: “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and please God in this calling. That has been my greatest desire since I was a little girl in a Catholic school.”

Young Women Worldwide Social Media

A new social media page and account has been created as a gathering place for these women to share with all of you. In a recent video they explained the schedule of what to expect each day.

  • Monday will be teaching tips for the next weeks lesson.
  • Tuesday will be a message from the presidency.
  • Wednesday will be messages/ stories from young women across the world.
