The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the full schedule for the open house and dedication of the Burley Idaho Temple. The announcement, published by the Church’s official Newsroom, marks the final stages in preparing the temple to serve Latter-day Saints in southern Idaho.
A media day will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025. Tours for invited guests will follow on November 4 and 5. The general public is invited to tour the temple from Thursday, November 6 through Saturday, November 22, excluding Sundays. The temple will then be dedicated in a single session on Sunday, January 11, 2026. According to the Newsroom, the dedicatory session will be broadcast to all congregations in the temple district.
Located at 40 South 150 East in Burley, the two-story building covers approximately 38,600 square feet and sits on a 10.1-acre site. The Church News notes the temple stands about half a mile southwest of the Snake River and features a design similar to the Twin Falls Idaho Temple. Plans for the temple grounds include a variety of trees and shrubs.
The Burley Idaho Temple was first announced by President Russell M. Nelson during the April 2021 general conference. Ground was broken for the temple on June 4, 2022, with Elder Brent H. Nielson of the Presidency of the Seventy presiding. Elder Nielson, who is a Burley native, said at the time, “As we symbolically turn this ground today… may each of us symbolically turn our hearts to our Father in Heaven.”
This will be the seventh operating temple in Idaho, joining the Boise, Idaho Falls, Meridian, Pocatello, Rexburg, and Twin Falls temples. Four additional temples are currently announced or under construction, including Caldwell, Coeur d’Alene, Montpelier, and Teton River.
The state is home to over 481,000 members of the Church, organized into approximately 1,275 congregations. For members in the Burley area—who currently drive about 45 minutes to the Twin Falls Idaho Temple—the completion of this sacred house will be a welcome blessing, bringing a place of worship and service closer to home.
