In Salt Lake City on August 25, 2025, church officials announced the commencement of preliminary site preparations for the highly anticipated Lehi Utah Temple—marking a pivotal first step on a 22.48‑acre plot northwest of 3950 North and Center Street. Local officials have approved the infrastructure work, which includes installing underground utilities—water, sewer, electricity—connected to city systems, along with grading the church’s property in readiness for future construction.
Elder Brian K. Taylor, president of the Utah Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints, expressed heartfelt enthusiasm for the project: “We are excited for this first step in the process of building a house of the Lord in Lehi,” he said, adding that the sacred edifice “will be a blessing for Latter‑day Saints in the area.” He also extended gratitude to Lehi City for its ongoing support and collaboration.
While no date has been set for a formal groundbreaking ceremony, design work continues in earnest.
Earlier this year, on February 24, 2025, the First Presidency released an exterior rendering of the temple—offering the public its first visual of the structure’s design. The proposed temple will stretch across approximately 85,000 square feet and include a new meetinghouse—both to sit on the same expansive site.
This temple will mark Lehi’s very first, and is the 31st of 32 total temples in Utah to be either operational, under renovation, under construction, or formally announced.
