Worship and Covenants in the Temple

Latter-day Saints attend temples to feel God’s love and peace, learn about His plan and the gospel of Jesus Christ, and make promises with God and their spouses. They also participate in sacred ordinances through which families can unite in this life and the next.

President Dallin H. Oaks recently described how his mother taught him to find hope in temple covenants after his father died. “She taught us that we had a father and she had a husband and we would always be a family because of their temple marriage,” President Oaks said.

President Oaks also expressed gratitude for the promises associated with temple worship. “We are all grateful for temple marriage and for the prospective blessings of being sealed as an eternal family.”
