The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the locations for three new temples. They are the Vienna Austria Temple, the Harrisburg Pennsylvania Temple and the Winchester Virginia Temple.

Vienna Austria Temple Site

The Vienna Austria Temple was announced on April 4, 2021, by Church President Russell M. Nelson. This sacred house of the Lord will be built on a 0.80-acre site located at Silbergasse 2, Vienna, Austria. Plans call for a multi-story temple of approximately 15,300 square feet. This will be the first temple in the country.

There are nearly 4,700 Latter-day Saints in 17 congregations in Austria. Elder Orson Pratt of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the country for the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ in 1865.

Additional information, including an exterior rendering, will be provided later. A groundbreaking date will be announced in the future.

Harrisburg Pennsylvania Temple

The Harrisburg Pennsylvania Temple was announced on April 2, 2023, by Church President Russell M. Nelson. This sacred house of the Lord will be built on a 5.36-acre site located at 605 Rutherford Road., Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania 17109. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 20,000 square feet. This will be the first temple in Harrisburg and the third in the state. Other temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pennsylvania are the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple and the Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Temple, which is under construction.

Winchester Virginia Temple Site

The Winchester Virginia Temple was announced on April 2, 2023, by Church President Russell M. Nelson. This sacred house of the Lord will be built on a 11.27-acre site located at 200 Merrimans Lane Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia 22601. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet.

This will be the state’s third temple. The Richmond Virginia Temple was dedicated on May 7, 2023. The Roanoke Virginia Temple was announced on October 1, 2023.

There are more than 97,000 Latter-day Saints in 215 congregations in Virginia.

Temples differ from the Church’s meetinghouses (chapels). All are welcome to attend Sunday worship services and other weekday activities at local meetinghouses. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ to participate in sacred ceremonies that unite families forever.
