The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lit the world this Christmas by taking over the heart of New York City with a Silent Night surprise to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Watch the amazing nativity story display that transformed Times Square below.
The billboard takeover at Times Square in New York City was part of Light the World, an annual movement to bring people from all over the world together to share the light of Jesus Christ during the Christmas season. The beautiful nativity scene that emerged from the blackout was a tender reminder of the Savior’s birth and why we need His light and love in our lives.

On social media he wrote, “What an awe-inspiring sight it was to be right in the heart of Times Square in New York City during the special Christmas display and celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.”
“It was a wonderful kick-off to the Christmas season to look up and witness scenes of the nativity, images of the Savior, displays of the giving machines, and the #LightTheWorld logo on the digital billboards in this iconic location,” he said.
“Jesus Christ is the light of the world. Let us follow Him as we try to light the world and share the light of Christ in our own small ways this Christmas season.”
