President Dieter F. Ucthdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is known for his love of airplanes. President Uchtdorf served as a pilot for the West German Air Force and Lufthansa. He often uses flying analogies in his General Conference addresses.
Today, President Uchtdorf shared a video on his official Facebook page all about aviation. In the video, he and his grandson Eric explore an old C-131 airplane on display at a museum in Salt Lake City, Utah. President Uchtdorf goes on to discuss how flying brings him closer to God.
“It takes us up to new levels of seeing this earth,” President Uchtdorf says when Eric asks him why he loves flying. “It removes us from the influence of gravity in some ways and brings us much closer to heaven. You can watch the entire video below.
