1976: The Hong Kong Stake, the first stake in Hong Kong, is organized, with Shiu-Tat Sheldon Poon as president.
1993: President Gordon B. Hinckley of the First Presidency dedicates the San Diego California Temple.
1999: President Gordon B. Hinckley addresses a gathering of 57,500 members at a soccer stadium in Santiago, Chile. This is one of the largest gatherings of Latter-day Saints in Church history.
