1837: Having outrun other baptismal candidates to the River Ribble, George D. Watt becomes the first convert in Great Britain when he is baptized by Elder Heber C. Kimball.
1844: Samuel Smith dies of “bilious fever” just over a month after the martyrdom of his brothers Hyrum and Joseph.
1887: Under provisions of the Edmunds-Tucker Act, suits are filed against the Church and its Perpetual Emigrating Fund Company, and the federal government begins confiscating Church property.
1972: The Argentina East Mission is organized.
