1809: William Law, later a member of the First Presidency and one of the ringleaders of the Nauvoo apostates seeking Joseph’s life in 1844, is born in Tyrone, Ireland.
1873: David O. McKay, later the ninth President of the Church, is born in Huntsville, Utah.
1876: Amanda Inez Knight (Allen), later one of the first single women missionaries called by the Church, is born in Payson, Utah.
1893: The Mormon Tabernacle Choir wins the $1,000 second prize at the singing contest held at the World’s Fair in Chicago.
