1851: Five hundred settlers leave Payson, Utah, for California, where they would found a Church-sponsored settlement at San Bernardino.
1958: Bruce Hurst, later a professional baseball pitcher, is born in St. George, Utah.
1988: At a dinner commemorating the 350th anniversary of the first Swedish settlement in the United States, the king and queen of Sweden entertain a group of guests that include President Thomas S. Monson, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, and his wife, Frances.
2000: The Testaments: Of One Fold and One Shepherd, a film portraying the mission of the Savior in the Holy Land and on the American continent, opens to the public in the Legacy Theater of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.
