1831: Oliver Cowdery and John Whitmer leave Kirtland, Ohio, for Independence, Missouri, to publish the Book of Commandments, which contains Joseph Smith’s revelations. Because of mob action, however, the volume is never completed.
1993: After ninety-six years, the statue of Brigham Young is moved from the intersection of South Temple and Main streets in Salt lake City, Utah, to a location eighty-two feet to the north.
1996:President Gordon B. Hinckley breaks ground for the Recife Brazil Temple.
