1850: U.S. President Millard Fillmore appoints the first territorial officers for the newly created territory of Utah; Brigham Young is appointed as its first governor.
1917: U.S. President Woodrow Wilson appoints James H. Moyle, the first Latter-day Saint to serve in a subcabinet position in the United States, as assistant secretary of the U.S. Treasury.
1990: Bookcraft, Inc., releases Gerald N. Lund’s first volume in the historical novel series The Work and the Glory. The series sells more than one million copies, becoming one of the most successful ventures in Church publication history.
