1842: Joseph Smith administers the endowment for the first time in this dispensation in the upstairs room of the Red Brick Store on Water Street in Nauvoo.
1875: Hyrum W. Mikesell baptizes Shoshone chief Pocatello in Salt Lake City. The chief is ordained an elder and prophesies that many of his people will soon join the Church. By the end of the year, nearly all his people join, as had hundreds of other Native Americans from other western tribes.
1964: Richard Dutcher, later the producer, writer, and director of God’s Army, an independent film portraying missionary life in southern California, is born in Oak Park, Illinois.
