1829: Joseph Smith completes the translation of the Book of Mormon.
1857: Martha Maria Hughes (Cannon), later a women’s rights activist, medical school graduate, and the first woman in the United States to be elected to a state senate (Utah), is born in Llandudno, Wales.
1919: The Canadian Mission is organized.
1971: Henry B. Eyring is appointed the tenth president of Ricks College.
