Here’s your daily dose of what matters most!
Fear of rejection can tempt us to compromise what we know is right, especially when staying faithful may disappoint others. We can ask ourselves whose approval guides our choices and choose to trust God when social pressure pulls us away from Him.
Scripture
“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.”—Proverbs 29:25
Quote
“This peer pressure tries to change a person’s attitudes, if not behavior, by making one feel guilty for giving offense. We seek respectful coexistence with those who point fingers, but when this fear of men tempts us to condone sin, it becomes a “snare” according to the book of Proverbs.”—Lynn G. Robbins, “Which Way Do You Face?”

Living the Principle: Don’t Give In to Peer Pressure
- Identify one situation where pressure from others makes it harder to follow your standards. Decide beforehand how you will respond.
- Practice a respectful but direct phrase such as, “That’s not something I’m comfortable with.” Preparing the words now can make them easier to say later.
- Pray for courage when you feel torn between fitting in and doing what is right. Then act on the answer you already know.
