This Day in LDS History
1850: Addison Pratt’s wife, Louisa Barnes Pratt, is called and set apart to go with her husband to preach the gospel. Her calling was an important step towards women being called as full-time missionaries, which did not take place until 1898.
1874: During general conference, President Brigham Young organizes the united order in the Salt Lake City wards. Over the course of the following months, the order is organized in dozens of towns throughout the territory.
1998: The Church announces plans to build temples in Halifax, Nova Scotia; Fukuoka, Japan; Suva, Fiji; Ciudad, Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico; and Kona, Hawaii.
