1844: At a meeting in Nauvoo, Joseph Smith is nominated as an independent candidate for president of the United States.
1888: The Saints dedicate the first meetinghouse of the Church in Canada at Lee’s Creek (later Cardston), Alberta.
1982: During U.S. vice president George W. Bush’s visit to Utah, President N. Eldon Tanner of the First Presidency presents him with a replica of the Monument to Women statue.
