Here’s your daily dose of what matters most!

When we notice and respond to another person’s temporal or spiritual needs, we live more fully as disciples of Jesus Christ and strengthen our bonds with one another. Whose welfare could we put ahead of our own today, and what specific help could we offer?

Scripture

“And this he said unto them, having been commanded of God; and they did walk uprightly before God, imparting to one another both temporally and spiritually according to their needs and their wants.”Mosiah 18:29

Quote

“The prophetic welfare plan is not merely an interesting footnote in the history of the Church. The principles upon which it is based define who we are as a people. It is the essence of who we are as individual disciples of our Savior and Exemplar, Jesus the Christ.”—H. David Burton, “The Sanctifying Work of Welfare”

Living the Principle: Find Joy in the Welfare of Others

  • Ask someone how they are doing, listen closely, and respond to a need they share.
  • Set aside time, money, food, or another resource to help someone facing a practical challenge.
  • Reach out to someone who seems discouraged and offer sincere encouragement, prayer, or companionship.
