This Day in Church History
1842: The endowment is administered for the first time in this dispensation by Joseph Smith, held above the Red Brick Store on Water Street in Nauvoo.
1875: Hyrum W. Mikesell baptizes Shoshone chief Pocatello in Salt Lake City. The chief is ordained an elder and prophesies that many of his people will soon join the Church. By the end of the year, nearly all his people join, as had hundreds of other Native Americans from other western tribes.
