1857: Martha Horne (Tingey), later the second general president of the Young Women’s Mutual Improvement Association, is born in Salt Lake City, Utah.
1959: Howard W. Hunter is ordained an Apostle, replacing Henry D. Moyle, who had been called to the First Presidency.
1989: The Nicaragua Managua Mission is organized.
1999: The Church announces the sale of department chain store ZCMI to May Department Stores Company.
2004: Elder Ballard conducts a missionary training satellite broadcast in which the Preach my Gospel is introduced.
