1833: The Prophet Joseph Smith ordains his father, Joseph Smith Sr., as the first patriarch of the Church.
1836: Brigham Young Jr., later a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and First Presidency, is born in Kirkland, Ohio.
1982: Elder Mark E. Petersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles breaks ground for the Boise Idaho Temple.
1999: President Gordon B. Hinckley dedicates the Raleigh North Carolina Temple
