Three Fun Facts for Elder Renlund’s Birthday
- Though born in Salt Lake City, Utah, his mother was Swedish and his father came from a Swedish-speaking town in western Finland. The family returned to Scandinavia when his father was called as a building missionary, and young Dale attended Swedish public schools in Gothenburg (Göteborg), Sweden, and Helsinki, Finland.
- After earning his B.A. and M.D. from University of Utah, Elder Renlund completed further training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and later became a professor of medicine and the medical director of the Utah Cardiac Transplant Program.
- When he was called on October 3, 2015, he became the 100th apostle in the history of the Church since its organization.
