Three Fun Facts for President Holland’s Birthday
- As a youth, he was so obedient that when he realized he had only fifteen minutes to make a 10:00 p.m. curfew, he ran from one end of St. George to the other. His mother said he “never gave [her] any trouble” and always took care of his priesthood duties.
- President Holland’s parents were called to the British Mission while he was serving there as a young missionary. He joked that he might be the only missionary who said farewell to his parents at both ends of his mission.
- As BYU president, he helped lead a $100 million fundraising campaign and navigated intense protests over the BYU Jerusalem Center. In the process, he gained the respect of many former opponents.
