Scripture

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”Matthew 5:43–44

Quote

“As followers of Christ, we should seek to live peaceably and lovingly with other children of God who do not share our values and do not have the covenant obligations we have assumed.”—Dallin H. Oaks, “Alive in Christ”

Three Fun Facts for President Oaks’ Birthday

  • His father was a doctor who sometimes treated people who could not afford to pay during the Great Depression. After his father died, some former patients later brought food or small payments to help his widowed mother.
  • Young Dallin’s first job was sweeping floors at a radio repair shop when he was 13, and that job sparked a fascination with radio. He became a federally licensed radio operator before he was 16, earning both second-class and first-class licenses.
