Scripture

Behold, this is a choice land, and whatsoever nation shall possess it shall be afree from bondage, and from captivity, and from all other nations under heaven, if they will but bserve the God of the land, who is Jesus Christ, who hath been manifested by the things which we have written.Ether 2:12

Quote

We know that some have died, and others may yet die in this hot and deadly contest. We can do all in our power to comfort and bless those who lose loved ones. May those who mourn be comforted with that comfort which comes alone from Christ the Redeemer. —Gordon B. Hinckley

This Day in Church History

1903: Hundreds of Latter-day Saints gather to welcome U.S. president Theodore Roosevelt as he arrives in Salt Lake City.
1946: Five hundred former Saints, who had left the Church over a dispute regarding native leadership, spread flowers along the lane leading to the chapel in Tecako, Mexico, singing “We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet” as President George Albert Smith arrives. He addresses them and invites them back into the Church; around 1200 eventually return.
1999: Ground is broken for three new temples: The Louisville Kentucky, Adelaide Australia, and Veracruz Mexico Temples.
