Here’s your daily dose of what matters most!

Helping the poor and distressed is a calling from Christ, inviting us to serve with love and compassion. Even small efforts—offering a meal, a kind word, or a helping hand—can bring hope and relief to those in need.

Scripture

“And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.”Mosiah 2:17

Quote

“The Church of Jesus Christ is committed to serving those in need, and it is also committed to cooperating with others in that effort.”—Dallin H. Oaks

Living the Principle: Helping the Poor and Distressed

  • Set aside a “giving moment” each week: Whether it’s donating clothes, delivering a homemade meal, or sending a heartfelt note, make a habit of helping those in need.
  • Volunteer at a local charity or shelter: Regularly contribute your time to organizations that serve the poor and distressed, offering both your hands and your heart.
  • Reach out to someone struggling emotionally: Check in on a neighbor, friend, or family member who may be feeling down or isolated, offering a listening ear and a word of encouragement.
