This Day in Church History

1857: While on a trip to visit Saints in the eastern and southern states, Elder Parley P. Pratt is murdered in Arkansas and buried near the town of Alma. Before dying he states: “I die a firm believer in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed through the Prophet Joseph Smith…I am dying a martyr to the faith.”
1895: Susan B. Anthony attends a woman suffrage convention in Salt Lake City to lend support to the fight for woman suffrage in Utah.
1995: President Gordon B. Hinckley breaks ground for the Vernal Utah Temple.
