1838: Upon receiving word of the encounter between Missouri troops and Mormon militia at Crooked River on October 25, Missouri governor Lilburn W. Boggs issues the “extermination order,” decreeing that the Saints must be driven from the state.
1980: President Spencer W. Kimball dedicates the Tokyo Japan Temple.
