1831: Emma Smith gives birth to twins, a boy and a girl, whom she and Joseph name Thaddeus and Louisa. The infants live only about three hours.
1879: Emma Hale Smith, the wife of the Prophet Joseph Smith and first president of the Nauvoo Female Relief Society, dies in Nauvoo, Illinois.
1986: It is estimated that Church membership is now 6 million members.
1993: Elder Thales Haskell Smith (a pediatrician) and Sister Charone Smith (a nurse), two of the first four missionaries to serve in a humanitarian capacity in Albania, visit with Mother Teresa, a native Albanian, at the Tirana Dystrophy Hospital.
