1832: Joseph Smith receives Doctrine and Covenants 86, which contains an additional scriptural application to the parable of the wheat and tares.
1925: In Buenos Aires, Argentina, Elder Melvin J. Ballard organizes the South America Mission, the first mission in South America.
1981: Elder Gene R. Cook organizes the Otavalo Ecuador Stake, the first all- Indian stake in South America, with Luis Alfonso Morales C. as president.
1992: With the creation of the Harvest Park Ward in the Salt Lake Granger South Stake, the Church reaches the milestone of having twenty thousand wards and branches.
