1980: The San Juan Puerto Rico Stake, the first stake in Puerto Rico, is organized, with Herminio De Jesus as president.
1984: President Gordon B. Hinckley of the First Presidency dedicates the Guatemala City Temple (later the Guatemala City Guatemala Temple.)
1985: President Gordon B. Hinckley of the First presidency dedicates the Seoul Korea Temple ( later the Seoul South Korea Temple), the first temple on mainland Asia.
1996: In Tucson, Arizona, President Gordon B. Hinckley dedicates a monument honoring the Mormon Battalion.
