1854: Erastus Snow begins publishing the st. Louis Luminary, a Church paper, in St. Louis, Missouri.
1903: Henry D. Taylor, later a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and the seventh President of the Church, is born in Salt Lake City, Utah.
1969: President Hugh B. Brown of the First Presidency dedicates the Mormon Battalion Monument, overlooking Old Town in San Diego, California.
1999: The BYU women’s cross-country team wins the NCAA national championship. Having also won the 1997 championship,it becomes the first BYU team to win two national championships.
