1843: In an effort to prepare the Saints for the election of 1844, Joseph Smith writes letters to U.S. presidential candidates John C. Calhoun, Lewis Cass, Richard M. Johnson, Henry Clay, and Martin Van Buren concerning their position regarding the Latter-day Saints.
1933: U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt meets with Presidents Heber J. Grant, Anthony W. Ivins, and J. Reuben Clark.
1948: Mission president Frederick S. Williams baptizes Avelino Juan Rodriguez and his wife, Maria Esther, the first converts in Uruguay.
