1903: The First Presidency authorizes the purchase of twenty-five acres of the original temple lot in Independence, Missouri, preparing the way for the first Latter-day Saint presence in Jackson County since the Saints’ expulsion some seventy years earlier.
1967: President Hugh B. Brown of the First Presidency dedicates the Salt Lake Temple Annex.
1968: Spain grants the Church official recognition.
1995: The Port Moresby Papua New Guinea Stake, the first stake in Papua New Guinea, is organized.
