1840: Joseph Smith Sr., Patriarch to the Church and one of the Eight Witnesses of the Book of Mormon, dies in Nauvoo, Illinois.
1963: President David O. McKay dedicates a monument in Kansas City, Missouri, commemorating the establishment of the city’s first school, which was erected by the Colesville Saints in 1831.
1993: Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin dedicates the Mediterranean island of Cyprus for preaching of the gospel.
