This Day in Church History
1949: General Conference is broadcast on television for the first time.
1961: Florence Smith Jacobsen is sustained as the sixth general president of the Young Women’s Mutual Improvement Association.
1966: The Church consolidates all Church-owned businesses under Deseret Management Corporation.
1997: The First Presidency announces plans to build temples in Houston, Texas, and Porto Alegre, Brazil
