1834: Cholera spreads through Zion’s Camp, attacking sixty-eight Saints and resulting in fifteen deaths. When Joseph Smith tries to heal the brethren by laying on of hands, he himself is taken ill and learns that he should not attempt to interfere with a decree from God.
1988: Hungary grants the Church legal recognition.
1991: The Russian Republic in the Soviet Union announces its formal recognition of the Church after the Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s concert in Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater.
