1856: The Willie handcart company leaves Florence (Winter Quarters), Nebraska, for the Salt Lake Valley.
1882: The Utah Commission, created by the anti-polygamy Edmunds Law, arrives in the territory to begin supervising election procedures in Utah to enforce the disenfranchisement of much of the Mormon population.
1985: Elder Neal A. Maxwell dedicates the first building built specifically as an LDS meetinghouse in the West African country of Ghana.
1996: Elder Richard G. Scott breaks ground for the Santo Domingo Dominican Republic Temple.
