1823: Moroni appears to Joseph Smith at the Hill Cumorah and shows him the gold plates for the first time. He visits Joseph on the same date for the next four years at this location.
1827: Joseph Smith receives the gold plates, the Urim and Thummim, and the breastplate from the angel Moroni at the Hill Cumorah.
1951: President David O. McKay breaks ground for the Los Angeles Temple.
1965: J. Averil Jesperson, president of the Andes Mission, receives a letter from Elder Spencer W. Kimball suggesting that he begin missionary work in Ecuador. Missionaries first arrived in Ecuador two weeks later.
