1829: John the Baptist confers the Aaronic Priesthood on Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery on the banks of the Susquehanna River near Harmony, Pennsylvania, and instructs them to baptize each other and ordain each other to the Aaronic Priesthood.
1844: Josiah Quincy, a future mayor of Boston, visits Joseph Smith in Nauvoo and later states: “It is by no means improbable that some future textbook…will contain a question something like this: What historical American of the nineteenth century has exerted the most powerful influence upon the destinies of his countrymen? And is by no means impossible that the answer…may thus be written: Joseph Smith, the Mormon Prophet.”
1977: The Caracas Venezuela Stake, the first stake in Venezuela, is organized.
1988: The Aba Nigeria Stake, the first stake in both Nigeria and West Africa, is organized.
