Scripture

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.—Joshua 24:15

Quote

We need to choose whom we will serve. The magnitude of our eternal happiness depends on choosing the living God and joining Him in His work. As—Dale G. Renlund

This Day in Church History

1889: The Church sponsors a concert in the Tabernacle to raise money to help the victims of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, flood. This is one of the Church’s first major humanitarian efforts directed toward nonmembers.
1917: Joseph B. Wirthlin, later a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, is born in Salt Lake City, Utah.
1966: Mark E Littman and Joel Izatt of the Human Planetarium assist Sydney E. King and V. Russell Capson in their efforts to place the stars in the heavens on a mural on the rotunda ceiling above where the Christus will be placed in the North Visitors’ Center on Temple Square. The stars are painted to appear as they would have on 6 April 1830, the day the Church was organized.
1996: President Gordon B. Hinckley breaks ground for the Madrid Spain Temple.
