1831: Sidney Rigdon returns home to Ohio after his first visit with Joseph Smith in New York and bears strong witness to the Prophet’s call and of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.
1899: Joseph Fielding Smith, the son of Hyrum M. and Ida Elizabeth Smith and later Patriarch to the Church, is born in Salt Lake City, Utah.
1951: Church leaders decided that no young man of draft age in the United States will be recommended for missionary service during the Korean War.
