1831: Emma Smith gives birth to twins, a boy, and a girl, whom she and Joseph name Thaddeus and Louisa. The infants live only about three hours.
1879: Emma Hale Smith, the wife of the Prophet Joseph Smith and first president of the Nauvoo Female Relief Society, dies in Nauvoo, Illinois.
