This Day in Church History
1898: The First Presidency encourages LDS youth to support the American War effort in the Spanish American War.
1919: Gordon B. Hinckley is baptized at eight years old at an unknown location. Of the site, he said: “It’s the only secret I have left! It was done by proper authority in a proper place.”
1999: Approximately 5,000 LDS women gather at BYU in what is called the largest humanitarian event held by the Church in a single setting. Participants spend some 6,955 service hours making hygiene kits and other items families need.
