Latter-day Saint activist and best-selling author Elizabeth Smart was revealed to be Ms. Moth, a contestant on “The Masked Dancer.” On the reality television show, celebrities wear elaborate masks and perform a dance number to try and stay in the competition. Judges guess their identity throughout and the dancer who doesn’t make it to the next round gets unmasked. Smart was eliminated and unmasked during the season’s third episode.
Through tears, she shared how her grandmother, who passed away “very recently,” was the inspiration for joining the show.
“She was so much fun,” Smart said. “She never let a moment pass her by. So, when this opportunity came along, I thought, ‘I live a pretty serious life and I’m going to take this opportunity and just have fun.'”
